Glamour Model Katie Price and Singer Peter Andre are to separate after four and a half years of marriage, the couple's management company Can Associates Limited has confirmed today. The couple released an official statement confirming the split after which Katie left the country with her two youngest children in tow, possibly to escape the inevitable media attention.
The couples statement included a request for privacy saying:
"We request that the media respect their families' privacy at this difficult time"
Katie and Pete's Wedding
The showbiz pair exchanged vows in a fairytale wedding in the beautiful Highclere Castle in Berkshire, family seat of the Earl of Carnarvon, with Katie arriving in a in a pink Cinderella-style carriage pulled by six white horses.
Katie and Peter have together endeavoured to appear unified despite constant negative speculation and always vehemently denied potential split rumours. Just last month after completing the London Marathon together, they announced that they would be trying for another baby with Jordan promising she would be pregnant by the end of the year. Katie and Peter already have two young children, Junior, 3, and Princess Tiaamii, 1. Peter loves and has also taken on Katie's son Harvey, 6 from a previous relationship with footballer Dwight Yorke.

The celebrity couple met whilst filming ITV's hit reality show 'I'm a celebrity get me out of here', and have been the media's subject of split speculation since day-one of their relationship. It seems they have constantly needed to confirm that they were not splitting as the tabloids often report.

The news of the split is very sudden, prompting fans to believe that it is a highly irrational decision and that the couple will in fact reconcile and get back together once the current argument is over. Their reality shows reveal the couples marriage to be erratic, emotional and volatile in nature therefore it would come as no surprise if they did make up. Just 3 days ago the couple were pictured hand in hand leaving London's Nobu Restaurant after sharing dinner together. Though the couple bicker like cat and dog, they always seem to make things work and deal with their problems because they love each other very much and believe they are meant to be together.
Some opinions are that Peter is trying to show Katie just how serious and hurt he is about the effects of her behaviour toward him. According to his pals however, he has recently said about his life: "I am so unhappy" which suggests that perhaps it is all over?
Reason for the split
The actual reason for the split has not been officially revealed, however they have both stated previously that the only reason either of them would split from one another would be if somebody cheated.
Media Speculation
According to The British Sun Newspaper , the split is due to Katie's out-of-control drinking and partying as well as the fact that Peter who is desperate to revive his singing career would like to live in America whilst Katie wants to live in England. The Daily Mail Newspaper writes here about a significant row which was aired on the duo's latest tv show which marked the end of their marriage.
Katie's statement
Katie Price has confirmed only one thing, that it was definitely not her decision to split and that if the onus was on her, they would still be together as she will always love Pete.
Her official press statement read:
"Pete is the love of my life and my life. We have children together and I am devastated and disappointed by his decision to separate and divorce me, as I married him for life. 'I will always love Pete'. This is not what I want and the decision has been taken out of my hands. I will not comment further or do any interviews regarding the separation but I will always love my Pete."
As the couple have become increasingly famous over the past few years, this is a huge celebrity break up. If they remain separated it is sad primarily for one main fact: The Children. The couple have however shown themselves to be great parents and I am sure that they will always ensure the children are well looked after and protected as much as possible.
